James Gunn-Carter has spent twenty-four years on these cars, and founded JGC in 2012. He holds a degree in automotive engineering and runs the latest PIWIS 4 — the same factory diagnostics your dealer plugs in. Ursula Gunn-Carter runs the business alongside him.

We take water-cooled models only, so the tooling, the software and the experience all point one way. Every car is booked in by appointment and goes on a ramp the day it arrives — with condition photographs and a written record kept in your own folder for as long as you own it, accessible any time through the customer portal.

The questions owners usually ask us first.

If it is water-cooled, yes. We specialise in the late-nineties cars onwards — 996 through 992, 986 Boxster through to the 718, Macan and Cayenne — and almost nothing else. That narrow focus is the point: the tooling, the software and twenty-four years of experience all cover the same cars. Air-cooled we leave to the air-cooled specialists, and we will happily point you to a good one.

Which car have you got?

What we do:

Servicing & Maintenance

Intervals set around how you actually use the car, plus the checks the factory schedule leaves out — and your photographs, invoice and notes in your customer portal afterwards.

Diagnostics & Repair

PIWIS 4 fault finding on cars other garages have given up on. Engine and gearbox work, air-conditioning, brakes and four-wheel geometry in-house.

Post-Purchase Inspection

Find out what you actually bought. Wheels off, every module read and a road test, then a plain plan of what needs doing now and what can wait.

James Gunn-Carter had already spent a decade on Porsche before JGC existed — main dealer training, an automotive engineering degree, and the unglamorous years that teach you what actually fails. Ursula Gunn-Carter runs the business alongside him, and between them they have kept it deliberately small.

We stayed independent because it lets us spend an hour on a diagnosis that a dealer schedule would not allow, and tell you to keep a part that still has life in it.
